The pandemic and warm summer were the hallmarks of the 2020 vintage. Knowing how to choose the right moment for
harvesting and responding quickly were key to getting fantastic quality in a year that required great precision.
LA CANCHA 2020 / CABERNET SAUVIGNON

This vintage of La Cancha reveals marked blue and red fruit and cassis aromas, with aromatic layers of spice, tobacco and an intense mineral note of graphite. The mouth is medium-bodied and intense and the fruit is balanced by dense, very fine tannins, accompanied by fresh acidity. The result is a wine with depth and weight in the mouth, while also tremendously agile. Very attractive now but it has the potential to evolve to full splendour over 15-20 years of ageing.

ALTO DE PIEDRAS 2020 / CARMENERE

Alto de Piedras 2020 clearly showcases the sweet and spicy side of this variety with black pepper aromas along with black fruit - like blackberries - and a mineral note like wet stones. Medium-bodied with exuberant ripe fruit balanced by silky tannins, this wine slips smoothly across the palate and is accompanied by fresh acidity. With good intensity, this wine fills the palate without being heavy and has a very long finish. Excellent for today, but to get the full splendour of the wine it is highly recommended to age for 15-20 years.

LA BLANCA 2020 / SEMILLÓN

La Blanca 2020 reveals ripe, intense and sweet fruit, accompanied by vibrant acidity, making the structure of the wine very balanced. A fantastic vintage for this wine in particular.

TRES VOLCANES 2018 / CHARDONNAY

In Malleco, the 2018 season was cooler than that of 2017, providing wines that are more vertical and less concentrated, with intense fruit and acidity that is pronounced but perfectly integrated. Tres Volcanes 2018 has a complex aromatic palate with marked notes of citrus fruit, green apple and hazelnuts. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a creaminess that envelopes the palate and provides a smooth texture that is complemented by the ripe fruit. Fresh acidity adds length to the palate, making this wine feel agile and deep, with a very long finish. Drinking beautifully now but its structure means it has great ageing potential.

GUARILIHIE, ITATA VALLEY

The temperatures in 2021 in the Itata Valley were average. Autumn was cool and dry and so we were able to harvest the grapes at exactly the right moment.
VIEJAS TINAJAS TINTO 2021 / CINSAULT

This, the tenth vintage of Viejas Tinajas, brings together everything we have learned from a decade of working in Itata. The grapes come from a 30-year old Cinsault vineyard on a south-west-facing granitic slope. The wine is very perfumed with fresh red fruit intermingled with floral aromas, which come through in the mouth with intense, ripe fruit and very fresh acidity and a tannic structure that lends the mouth grip and texture. An extraordinary vintage of Viejas Tinajas with long ageing potential.

VIEJAS TINAJAS BLANCO 2020 / MUSCAT

The ninth vintage of this wine reveals a complex aromatic profile with notes of blossom and citrus fruit, along with a hint of peach. The mouth is intense, broad and bone dry and the fresh acidity is in balance with the fruit intensity. The light tannins come from the prolonged skin maceration, contributing texture and a pleasant flavour. A very long wine made for ageing, which will gain complexity over time.

Variety: 70% Muscat and 30% Chasselas.
Climate: Coastal Mediterranean with abundant rainfall.

Appropriate management in the vineyard, the age of the vines, along with harvesting at the right time, made it possible to retain the natural acidity and freshness of the wine.
LAS CRUCES 2019 / MALBEC-CARMENERE

The weather was warm throughout the 2019 season. The vineyards suffered particularly in such warm areas as Pichidegua. The result is a great vintage of this wine, in which the Malbec takes a leading role, providing aromas of black fruit and violets, complemented by the spices from the Carmenère. The palate is packed with intense crunchy fruit, which is nicely balanced with the fine tannins and the acidity that enhances the length of the wine. With great volume in the mouth without being in any way heavy, this wine has a structure that guarantees great evolution over the next 15 years.

VIGNO 2019 / CARIGNAN

The vineyards in the dry coastal area of Maule known as Secano Costero, which is a warm area, really felt the impact of the warm temperatures that prevailed throughout the season. It is aromatically complex, with aromas ranging from very ripe black and red fruit, with spicy and herbal notes, along with a marked mineral note, which is characteristic of granitic soils. In the mouth, it reveals concentrated, intense fruit but the fine tannins and pronounced acidity mark a counterpoint, balancing the wine. With tremendous structure and a long finish, this wine can be enjoyed now but will gain complexity over the next 20 years.

LAS OLVIDADAS 2020 / PAÍS-SAN FRANCISCO

The 2020 season was warm, though cooler than 2019, but the harvest date was again key. Las Olvidadas are the oldest vines in the vineyard and the País and San Francisco varieties are the last ones to ripen. The dry autumn meant we were able to harvest when the grapes were at the optimal point of ripeness, avoiding botrytis. The result is a wine with very characteristic aromas of red fruit, herbs and earthy notes typical of these varieties. The palate is medium-bodied with superb fruit intensity, tannins that provide a rugged structure and vibrant acidity. With weight on the mid-palate and a long finish, this wine can be enjoyed now but will become more integrated and complex over the next decade.

ARMIDA 2011 / CARMENERE

The 2011 vintage was of superb quality. Summer and autumn were cooler than average and free from rain, which meant that we could achieve very harmonious fruit and tannin ripeness. This was also the first vintage in which we used 35-hectolitre Austrian foudres to age this wine for 24 months. The fruit is from our emblematic Alto de Piedras vineyard in Isla de Maipo. It is a deep and intense colour and reveals aromatic layers of spices, black pepper and black fruit in which the notes of oak and leather from the ageing are perfectly integrated. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied and intensely fruity with a silky texture and very fine tannins that are beautifully balanced with the fresh acidity. With a very long finish, this wine is reaching its maturity and demonstrating all of its great potential.

VIEJAS TINAJAS 2014 / CARIGNAN-CINSAULT

Temperatures were average in the dry areas of Maule and Itata for the 2014 vintage. This wine is from both regions as it was a one-off experiment in which we blended Cinsault from Guarilihue with Carignan from Triquelemu. The result is an aromatically complex and characterful wine in which the red fruit is accompanied by tertiary notes of leather and damp earth. In the mouth, it reveals perfect integration, where the Cinsault contributes fresh red fruit and the Carignan firm tannic structure and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and the wines are showing full maturity at 7 years.

LA AGUADA 2010 / CARIGNAN

The weather in the dry lands of the Maule region was moderate in 2010. The summer was warm - without extreme temperatures - and the autumn was cool and dry. The resulting wines were ripe but fresh, with the acidity and ripe fruit beautifully balanced. La Aguada 2010 is broad, ripe and long on the palate and the rusticity and acidity of the Carignan have been transformed into elegance and freshness.

LIMÁVIDA 2010 / MALBEC

The weather for the 2010 vintage was moderate in the dry lands of Maule. The summer was warm - without extreme temperatures - and the autumn was cool and dry. This resulted in wines that were ripe but fresh, and the acidity is beautifully balanced with the ripe fruit. Limávida 2010 is a perfectly ripe wine, perfumed with the floral and red fruit notes that are typical of Malbec. With an intense, long, fresh palate, this is an extremely harmonious and elegant wine.

The 2009 season was generally warm in Chile but this was not the case in the Limarí Valley, where the weather was normal to cool. As a result, this vintage of Quebrada Seca stands out because of its ripe fruit and classic minerality. With a broad plate and fresh acidity, it achieves great balance.
