Rainfall is abundant at 900mm per year, which makes dry-farming possible. The influence of the Pacific Ocean just 22km away moderates the climate and enhances the freshness and vivacity of the wines.

Hills with strongly sloping vineyards and large pine forests. The fast-flowing Itata River complements the landscape. The soils are of granitic origin from the Jurassic period, with good structure and drainage and up to 20% clay. There is also a significant amount of quartz.
